When you move to a new state or even a new county, it’s very important that you call or go online and change your address with Social Security. Their phone # is 1-800-772-1213.
You want to make sure that all the mail from Social Security and Medicare gets to your new address.
If you prefer to do it online it’s pretty simple. You can access this at www.ssa.gov or www.medicare.gov .
They will ask you ask you 3 questions to identify yourself after you put in your basic information. Make sure you know what your license plate #’s are. You may think that is an odd request, but it will make sense when you see the questions they ask. They ask you questions that only you would have the answers to.
